Thanksgiving in the Poconos

Despite the dreary weather in the Poconos, we had a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving at Bob's Mom and Step-Dad's mountain house. Sophia enjoyed splashing in the puddles on our morning walk. Her pink fuzzy crocks and stockings were COVERED IN MUD! Sydney entertained herself with a "walking" stick that she found. The walk in the woods had Sydney howling like the boy in Where the Wilds Things Are [Sydney and I went on a movie date a couple weeks ago. Needless to say, she liked the movie].

GMa picked out a fun recipe that the girls could make together. Paula Deen's Pineapple Upside-Down Biscuits. They were delicious! Popie and the girls hung bird feeders behind their house. GMa made a wonderful breakfast and an awesome Thanksgiving dinner.  Mommy and Daddy were along for the ride, sitting fireside a majority of the two days.

{Not So Scary} Monster Mash

On Friday night, the Please Touch Museum (formerly known as Memorial Hall) in Fairmont Park Philadelphia had a MONSTER MASH for members of the museum. Sophia, my 2 yr old, went as Disney's Princess Aurora (in pink) and Sydney , my 3 yr old, went as Disney's Princess Belle (in golden yellow)... although she preferred to be called QUEEN Belle! It was a fun night of dinner, dancing, exhibits and a "trick-or-treat" treasure hunt. Sydney had more fun checking out all the cool costumes the kids were wearing. Sophia liked the music and dancing. The girls were mellow because they missed their naps (wish I could have a do-over because my girls don't have much energy after 6pm without a nap!).

The girls made the the 10 o'clock Philadelphia Fox News later that night [the news clip is at the very end of the video clip below... it's a 3 minute video so you may want to FF to the end of the video :) ]

My "Victorian" Queen costume which looked more like a Maid of Milking! Ha!! Only half of the parents dressed up... I couldn't wait to get my costume off. I'm not much of a costume person.

Leaving the Museum:

We were the last ones to leave the museum that night. We were also the last one's to eat before the cafeteria doors closed. What a fun night!

July 4th - Better Late Than Never...

I didn't want to miss doing a post about our July 4th [only a month late right?]. It was such a great day for our entire family. My Mom & Dad invited us over for a picnic. The girls has so much fun with their cousins... there was lots of swimming, eating, swinging in the hammock, horseback riding and throwing rocks in the pond. For me it was a relaxing and FILLING day. My parents went overboard with TONS of food. It was good to see a two of my five sisters and a bunch of my [many!!] nieces & nephews. To avoid posting a million pics and an extremely long post, I'm adding a few collages. BUT first a few favorites moments...

My sister Mary Beth and her daughter Morgan--
(They always take the best pictures when they are together.)

Mary Beth's husband, David, holding Sydney.... she is amused with his facial hair.
Sophia waiting her turn to ride the horse...

Morgan & David (my niece & nephew) giving Sophia their undivided attention while she reads--
Mom has the perfect picnic table for our two little ladies---

Rose & Corban, my niece & nephew

Mom & Sydney... Sydney riding Sebastian

Sophia [take note of horse snorting Sophia's entire head..HA!]--

More pics of the cousins...

They Keep Us Free

They Keep Us Free
by Roger Robicheau

In time of need their will is sure
American, their freedom pure

Protect our life and liberty
Unselfishly, they keep us free

Each soldier knows what is at stake
The risk is grave, there’s no mistake

With pride they serve our country strong
They face each foe to come along

Remember them while in your home
Or where you choose to freely roam

Don’t take for granted what you see
Some left this life, so it could be

To God I urge you all to pray
For soldier’s brave, to face each day

We should be thankful, one and all
For those who march to meet each call

Here is an amazing "Taps" performance by a 5th grade girl that will give you chills.

To all of you in the Armed Forces, Thank You for your great courage and for
keeping our country free!

Happy Memorial Day. God Bless!

Blessed!

I had the most wonderful, relaxing Mother's Day today with my hubby and girls. I woke-up to a BEAUTIFUL day with a wonderful BREEZE coming through the bedroom windows. Bob and the girls handed me four wonderful cards before I even rolled out of bed. Sophia let me borrow her "Me, Me, Me, it's all about Me Button". The Mother's Day card said that she wants it back tomorrow (no surprise to ME!).

We walked around the Village of Skippack Pennsylvania. They were having a Spring Fest event so the village was bustling with vendors and families that were out & about for Mother's Day brunch reservations. We had a fun brunch at Basta Pasta in Skippack. The food was YUM. The girls were angels during lunch (and the entire day for that matter!). We stopped by a craft booth which seemed to be the highlight of Sydney and Sophia's day. They both made a layered, colored sand bottle creation. Sydney was so proud of it. She held the bottle of sand on the drive home with a big smile on her face (the smile never left even went she started to dose off in the car). It was a smile of pure contentment... she really loves quality family time and will be getting much more of it very soon! Once we returned home, Sydney and I took a 2+ hour NAP in my bed which is not something I would normally do, but it felt good and was a nice ending to a beautiful morning.

Bob made the day extra special by being extremely attentive which is something he does well and often! It was an ordinary day, but at the same time an extraordinary day with the girls giving me hugs, kisses and " I love yous" all day long. I am blessed more than I could ever imagine.

Below are some pics from brunch with my 3 favorite people in the whole, wide world!

I love you, Bob, Sydney & Sophia. Thank you for my special day!!
xoxoxo Love, Mamma

Tomorrow, I will post a pic of their sand bottle creations!

Happy Mother's Day!
