UNO

Since the beginning of the year, Sydney has been asking for a kitten that she can pet. Snoop, our 13 year old male cat, will only allow Bob or I to pet him... he is a scaredy cat due to his traumatic kittenhood in Norristown PA.
...
We've been waiting until we could adopt a kitten (we didn't know that they were only born in the late spring and fall?). Snoop's vet in Limerick would not allow us to adopt one because we haven't taken him to the vet for a couple years (you try to catch and cage him! Ask Bob, it's a workout). Who knew it was so difficult to adopt (save!) a kitten... and to think of the abandoned and abused kittens Bob has saved from Norristown.
...
We finally adopted a male kitten from Spay and Save. Bob found him at the Petco in Limerick. He has a big "O" on each side. Bob suggested the name "Target" (I don't think he was talking about the logo for the store we frequent... but was thinking about the bale of hay in our backyard... what a sick sense of humor ;-) !?). There is an "N" by the "O" so I suggested "NO" or "UNO". "No" would not have worked... it's a word we try to avoid as much as possible with two toddler's in the house. SO UNO IT IS!
...
Lucky us, Uno is the perfect cat for Sophia. She carries him by the neck and pulls really hard on his tail, but he doesn't seem to mind. We are trying to teach her how to be gentle and how to hold him(We don't want the kitten police to come take him from us). Sydney is extremely gentle and loving... she says "look how cute he is" and "I want him to stay" and she tells him how much she loves him. Sooooooo adorable! He was a litter box user from the get-go, extremely gentle, loves to cuddle and play AND the girls adore him (Nana will too!). What more can you ask for... UNO is one cool cat!

this is a girl who is normally scared to death of animals
see the "NO" on his side?

a cat!!!

sweet happiness!

Today I was able to get a picture of the "strangle hold"!

"flip-flop frocks"

People are always stopping me to ask about the cute, reversible dresses with matching bloomers that my girls wear. I always tell them "RightBankBabies.com". These outfits are easy, easy, easy.... it's like having two outfits in one. They come in many different fun fabrics. If you buy them a little large, they can wear them as a dress for a couple years and as a top for a couple more.
...
The new fabric choices they posted to the web-site this summer, like the one to the right, are not as durable as the dresses that I've purchased in years past. These new summer fabrics are too thin to hold the big cute buttons and the fabric wrinkles easily. VERY disappointing... I hope they go back to the more durable, thicker fabrics that held up much better in the wash.... maybe they have with the new fall prints?
...
I was at the King of Prussia Mall with my two girls and my 18 year old niece, Velia, in early August. We were stopped around 20 times by people asking about the girls dresses and asking me where I purchased them. Each time I would take the time to tell them (my niece found it annoying after a while :-).... my husband thinks I should be getting a kick back because I've probably told a couple hundred people about these dresses. I really don't mind when asked... if it means more business for RBB and more new fabrics to choose from then I'm happy to help.
...
The last three dresses & bloomers that I purchased on-line came from Saige Nicoles
. I highly recommend this site. She event sent a cute, handwritten thank you note!

Mango Men in Skippack

On Wednesday evening we went to hear The Mango Men in Skippack. This band is fan-tastic and fun! They were there for the Skippack Village Summertime Concert Series. This band is one of Nana & Pop-Pops favorite bands. They played at Pop Pop's retirement party before he moved to Florida. [btw, John says hello to you Pop Pop]. Aunt Becky was there doing some fund-raising for the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. We hope you raised lots of money! You couldn't ask for better weather or better spot to sit... it was a fun, relaxing time for me and the girls.

We love The Mango Men!

Mittens, Socks and Scarves

Cousin Anna came over tonight. After watching cheetah girls (?), the girls dug into the scarf & mitten drawer to play dress up (including those sparkly striped socks GMa gave us :-).... Daddy/Uncle Bob got into the action too. I'm now looking forward to winter because the girls look so cute in their knit hats... but I'm not ready for summer to be over just yet.

Bentley Family Picnic Weekend

Velia came up from Maryland on Friday & Saturday. She babysat Sydney & Sophia so we could go to the movies on Friday night. We saw Mama Mia... believe it or not, Bob liked it too (don't tell anyone, he'll kill me - His favorite scene was all the women running through the town dancing and singing). On Saturday, it was overcast so they postponed the Bentley picnic a day. What’s a girl to do on a rainy day… SHOP of course… we went to KofP mall to do some shopping for Velia. She picked out some great jeans & tops for college.

The girls had a great time on Sunday at the Bentley Family Picnic. Sydney said that her favorite activity was the moon bounce (big surprise there). We went on the tractor/wagon ride twice. It was a long bumpy ride through the river, woods & fields. I was not looking forward to the second round, but how do you say "No" to a cute little face saying "again, again". The ice cream truck was there for hours - all you can eat... spiderman was dripping all over them... it was a disaster! On the way home, Sydney told me she wanted to go to another picnic…

Sisters...

Sophia is starting to talk a lot. She enjoys playing with Sydney. She is constantly mimicking her. Sydney is our little helper. She even loves to help with changing Sophia's diapers!
